The PRS Sonzera 20-watt combo guitar amplifier boasts two independently controlled, foot-switchable channels for maximum versatility.
The clean channel delivers full, three-dimensional sounds reminiscent of American-made guitar amplifiers from the mid-1960s. It offers a range of tones, from lush and warm cleans to sparkling cleans, all achieved through a simple and familiar layout.
The clean channel features a bass and treble control, a single volume control similar to that found on vintage amplifiers, and a global presence and reverb control. The presence control, located in the power section, allows you to tailor the top end and chime of your tone to your preferences. The tube-driven spring reverb provides a wide range of depth, from its minimum settings to its maximum settings, without compromising your tone.
The lead channel is voiced to be full and aggressive, but it retains a tight and clear sound. A bright switch is designed to provide a familiar high-end snap, especially useful on neck pickup settings and the lower strings. The lead channel also features a base, middle, and treble tone stack.
Both channels on the Sonzera 20 are designed to maximize note clarity and definition. The global presence control and the tone stacks allow you to dial in various tones from bell-like chimes to warmer, thicker tones.
The back panel is where you’ll find the connection for the footswitch, which not only lets you change channels but also engages and disengages the reverb. There’s a transparent Effects Loop so you can put your time-based effects after gain without adversely affecting your tone. There are 4, 8, and 16-ohm speaker jacks if you would like to pair this with an external speaker cabinet for an expanded setup and also for user serviceability. There are even bias ports for your power tubes.
